Precision Solar and Energy Storage Design and Installation

Energy Storage System Designs and Custom Solar Power

In part, what we mean when we say "The Baker Way" is that every solar system we sell is custom-designed for the individual needs of the customer.  The concept of a pre-designed or cookie-cutter system does not exist to us.  We come out to your house and take measurements.  We look at your electricity bill and size the system according to your individual usage.  We ask financial questions and provide you all possible ownership and lease options.

Using state-of-the-art design and engineering software byAurora, you can expect to get the most technologically advanced system available for both solar power and home battery systems.

AURORA Design Software

Our solar and energy consultants use one of the most sophisticated software packages available, consistently rated top of its class. Aurora allows us to quickly and accurately design the perfect system, every time. What does that mean for you? It means no surprises on installation day.

The Importance of Correct System Design

We recognize that every home is different and has its own unique set of needs. A number of factors go into making sure your solar power and home battery system are designed to fit your individual requirements. Unfortunately, too many companies don’t take into account all of these factors. At Baker Electric Home Energy, that’s not how we operate. We want to be certain your system is sustainable by meeting your energy needs for years to come. Our expertise allows us to analyze your electric usage requirements and provide energy-saving solutions specific to each of our customers’ goals for solar installation in San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange County.

If your goal is to offset your electric bill entirely (which is what we normally recommend), we go the extra step to ensure this requirement is met. A poorly designed system can potentially cost you thousands of dollars in the long term.

The Custom Solar and Energy Storage Experience

When you go solar the Baker Way, not only do you get a custom solar and home battery solution for your home, you get the unique customer experience that only Baker and it's 78-year history can provide. Here are the milestones of our customer journey.

1. Consultation

First, you’ll meet with an expert Solar and Energy Storage Consultant for a free evaluation and custom proposal. In order to customize your installation, we’ll ask you a lot of questions about how much electricity you use, how much of your bill you want to offset and whether you’re planning on adding any electrical loads in the future so that your system does what you want it to for the next 25+ years. Our consultant will answer your questions about making the switch to solar or energy storage, as well. And you’ll review the estimated costs of your system and our financing options.

2. Pre-engineering site survey

Once we understand your needs, we’ll perform a thorough location survey. This step must be completed before installation of your solar panels or home battery begins as it confirms what the energy consultant designed.

3. Permitting

After the site survey confirms that the system design will work, permit applications are created and submitted to the local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). During this phase, we also complete the long Net Energy Metering application on which utilities like SDG&E ask for a lot of detailed information. We’ll answer all of the required, highly technical questions and save you the headache.

4. Solar and Energy Storage system installation

Once the permitting process is complete, our experienced team of certified electricians will schedule and perform a professional and clean installation of your customized home solar power or battery system. Once again, we’ll take care of all of the details for you. Our fully equipped trailers carry all of the materials needed for your installation. We even bring a portable restroom for the installation crew. Your installation in San Diego or other Southern California cities begins with prepping your roof to ensure a solid and highly professional installation. This process may involve removing and replacing old tiles. Our crew installs industry-leading, double-flashed roof mounting to ensure your solar installation remains leak-free and handles the installation of all other equipment, such as racking and inverters. In the next phase of the process, your solar panels will be firmly attached to the mounting. At this stage, all wiring will be completed and the monitoring device that tracks your solar system’s performance will be set up inside your home. Our team will also complete the interconnection between your new home solar system and your local utility company. The process of solar installation in San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange County, typically takes between one and three days to complete.

5. Jurisdictional and utility inspections

Permission must be obtained before you can operate your newly installed solar panel or battery system. Also prior to operating your system, a city inspection will be required. Once the inspection has been completed, the city inspector will alert your utility company for its review and approval.

6. Solar and home battery approval from your utility company

We’re there! Once your solar panel or energy storage installation has been inspected by the city and your utility company approves it, you will be issued permission to operate from your utility. You can then begin to use your energy system to generate power for your home for years to come.

7. Job closeout

Your complete satisfaction is of the highest importance to us. A Baker Electric Home Energy technician will schedule an in-home visit with you to check your system’s performance and answer any questions you may have.

8. Solar energy and Energy Storage monitoring — and saving

After your solar panels or home battery are installed on your home, you’ll want to have the ability to monitor their production. Each of Baker Electric Home Energy’s installations includes a monitoring system that allows you to view how much energy your panels produce moment by moment. Ongoing maintenance of your energy system will be simple. Since solar panels for the home are extremely durable, they usually only need to be hosed off with water every once in a while to keep them clean and free of debris.

That’s it. Remember, we’ll be with you every step of your way toward a solar energy lifestyle that reduces hassles and potentially saves you thousands of dollars each year.  Go solar and get turned on by electricity — your electricity — again!
